Our journey began in 2017 when we listed our first apartment on Airbnb in Cheltenham as an alternative to long-term renting. The excitement of those initial bookings and the positive feedback from guests truly energized us. Inspired by this success, we listed our other properties on various platforms and started helping others with theirs. Thus, Jason and Philip Serviced Accommodation was born!

Meet Our Team

Phil Gibbens-Balaquidan Director

Hello, I'm Phil, the Philip in Jason and Philip Serviced Accommodation and for almost a decade, I've had the privilege of looking after guests in our properties. I take great satisfaction in providing properties that are not only beautiful and comfortable but cater to everyone — from those seeking a brief weekend stay to those planning a more extended visit spanning several months. I came to property management from a career in customer service working in senior management roles at well-known retail brands. I also served as a Director at one of Cheltenham’s leading Estate agencies, so property management is very much in my blood!

I love my hometown, Cheltenham, and although I spent 10 years in the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street in London as a General Manager, nothing compares to the unique beauty of the Cotswolds. I think this helps me to create accommodation that works seamlessly with the region's distinctive regency charm. One of the joys in my work is hearing positive feedback from satisfied customers who appreciate the cleanliness of my properties and the extra effort we put into ensuring a memorable stay.

Outside of my work and property management, I’m also a pianist, seasoned traveller and movie buff.

Jason Gibbens-Balaquidan Director

Hey there, I'm Jason, the other half of Jason and Philip — originally from London, and in a past life, I herded little ones as a primary school teacher. These days, I've set up camp in Cheltenham, diving headfirst into the world of property management with Jason & Philip Serviced Accommodation for the past two years.

I'm the go-to guy, juggling tasks like managing all of guest changeovers, keeping tabs on the finances, purchases, and making sure the cleaning team works their magic.

My main goal? Ensuring our guests check-in to properties so clean they practically shine. I take pride in my knack for detail, working hard to anticipate and meet all our guests' needs before they even arrive, all for a stay that’s smooth and comfortable.

Outside of work I'm a travel enthusiast, with LA claiming a special spot in my heart as a go-to getaway. Exploring new places and soaking in diverse cultures is my kind of joy.

When our journey started, we had busy full-time jobs of our own, so we decided to look for a local (or corporate) managing agent to help us. After speaking to anyone and everyone, and trying some too, we quickly realised that there wasn’t anyone out there who could manage our home in the way that we wanted them to. We especially didn’t like the idea of outsourced cleaning companies coming in and being responsible for the standards our guests experience.

We, therefore, carried on self-managing until 1 day a friend asked us to look after their home too as they were heading away, and from there our Fully Managed service was born. We still look after that same apartment as well as dozens of other homes from 1 bed homes to 6 bed houses incorporating the latest technologies to ensure! We also realise that some hosts just need help with marketing and getting bookings but like to handle all the changeovers themselves. Our List Only service was born too.

With full management we have simple rules such as, no outsourced cleaning, checking every property personally after every stay to ensure it’s perfect for each and every guest. It’s a privilege and huge responsibility to look after someone else’s home and we never lose sight of that which is why these simple things are at the heart of service – hands on and expert property management.

And then for List Only – we can help dress and make your home look beautiful, arrange all the professional photography, list on Airbnb, Booking.com, VRBO and more and then integrate your property to our Channel Manager systems and use our Dynamic Pricing tool to make sure your prices and occupancy is right to boost and maximise your income.
